The moment is now

The moment is now

Growing up with 3 sisters, I always felt like having a boyfriend was “normal”. I dated the nicest guy for over 2 years and I just knew something was off. I loved him as a person, but was not in love with him.

It wasn’t until I was 23 when my mom suddenly passed away that I realized that you only live once, and why live life in a lie. It’s been 5 years since I came out and I have never been happier. I have an amazing girlfriend that my family loves.

My dad has stage IV cancer and was just just put on hospice. I am so grateful that he is able to see the true me and accepts me for who I am. Although my family and myself will miss my dad, I know he will continue to support me and the rest of the LGBTQ community.

Don’t wait until the “right” moment to come out because you never know when your last opportunity will be.
