Hi my name is Kylee Tucker and I work as an EMT. I was working a regular shift on a regular day when my life changed. I was in the back of the ambulance working on a patient when the ambulance wrecked. I was not wearing a seatbelt because I was in the middle of doing patient care so I was thrown around the back pretty hard. I came out of the accident alive (obviously), but with some major injuries including a traumatic brain injury, cervical sprain, dislocated shoulder, elbow tear, bruised ribs, bruised hip and severely bruised femur. I lost my ability to work as an emt and had to move back home with my super hero mom because I needed 24 hr care. It’s been over a year now since the wreck, so most injuries have healed but I will always have the TBI so it’s changed my course of life. I lost a lot of memory of my life prior to the accident so you could say I was able to hit a reset button… I’d prefer to have not had to be beat up by an ambulance to find the button but hey here I am! The outlook I have on life and how meaningful our memories are is very different than before. The wreck may have put a lot of my life on hold but it has given me some much needed time to work on myself inside and out and I’ve never been happier!
