It’s a simple phrase—Happy to be here. The kind of thing you say when you walk into a room, meet someone new, or take a seat at the table. But right now, for a lot of us, it feels more like a question than a statement.
Are we really happy to be here?
With the state of politics, the attacks on human rights, the way marginalized communities are being erased and legislated against—being here, in America, doesn’t always feel like something to celebrate. In fact, for many, it feels exhausting, infuriating, even terrifying.
And yet, we stay.
The Irony, The Resistance, The Truth
This design is ironic, sure. But it’s also a reminder of resilience. Of choosing to exist, to take up space, to find joy despite everything. Wearing “Happy to be here” isn’t about blind patriotism or pretending everything is fine—it’s about survival. It’s about reclaiming the fact that we are here, and that in itself is something powerful.
Because even when the system is broken, we are still here, fighting for something better. Even when the news is bleak, we are still here, building communities that lift each other up. Even when they try to erase us, we are still here, louder than ever.
So, Are We Happy to Be Here?
Maybe not in the way they’d expect. But we’re here. And we’re not going anywhere.
Wear it with irony. Wear it with pride. Wear it as a statement that no matter how hard they try, they won’t push us out of our own existence.
